CDb Contact Database
Overview:
This program was designed to keep up with clients, the inventory we sold them, and our sales and technical conversations with them.
Client's Problem:
The client tried several existing contact management programs, some of which were designed for VAR's and some were not. One of them came close to what they'd like, but was discontinued by the company who made it. After spending a lot of time and money without the results the wanted, they realized a custom solution was going to be their best solution.
Our Solution:
The solution came in the form of a Microsoft Access database that grew over the course of 3 years to incorporate a variety of features. It ended up being used internally over a WAN for the 3 offices with it's own license manager and self-modifying database code to detect updates and re-link itself to the master database.
Product Features:
- Used in a WAN environment by multiple users at once
- Strong automation for outputting records to Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
- Unique "Quick Query" search function that allowed any record to be found in a few keystrokes
- The ability to track technical calls, inventory, quotes and more for each client, with integrated searching
- Attachments for each customer and the ability to launch those attachments from within the program
- Contract tracking for each client - when contracts were due, needed to be renewed, etc.
- History output of *all* sales or technical records for a client into an email with a single click
- Customizable Microsoft Word templates that were filled in at the touch of a button with the current record's data
- Creation of Microsoft Outlook contacts from the current record or recordset
