Equipment Resource Tracker
Overview:
This program was created to help a scaffolding company keep up with their inventory.
Client's Problem:
The main problem they were having was that every time an order was received, they had to go to their main yard (and 3 other yards located offsite if they didn't have enough) and manually count the pieces required for a job. Without an electronic inventory tracking system, they had no way of knowing if they had enough inventory to fill an order of 50 or 100 parts unless they wanted to manually count all of the inventory by hand.
Our Solution:
The solution came in the form of a Microsoft Access database that, after an initial (manual) hand-count, they could use the software to track all products received or outgoing. Now instead of using expensive man-hours to count and taking up to several days to determine if they had the necessary quantities for a job, they were able to load the software and instantly determine whether they had enough and where it was located at. If they realized they didn't have enough in their main yard, they could call a sub-yard and get the extra pieces they needed shipped immediately. This system also allowed them to better keep up with shrinkage and loss, as well as the value of their inventory.
Product Features:
- Individual user logins
- Security levels by username
- MD5 password protection
- Reports to show product quantities by site
- Pick Ticket and Sales Orders designed to match their original forms for familiarity
- Product valuation queries by site and overall
- Low inventory/re-order alerts, user-defined by individual product
Project Partners:
Wright Venture Services -- they came to us with a client who needed an inventory system and wasn't happy with any of the available options. With Wright Venture Service's business experience, they were able to guide the client and help design a product that would be effective for them both now and in the future.
